Today we saw some very peculiar wildlife including a large goat like creature with a big white puffy butt.

Verry actively made, has only a pair of hoofs to each foot, his brains on the back of his head, his Norstrals large, his eyes like a Sheep he is more like the Antilope or Gazella of Africa than any other Species of Goat."

"We found the Antelope extreemly shye and watchfull insomuch that we had been unable to get a shot at them; when at rest they generally seelect the most elivated point in the neighbourhood, and as they are watchfull and extreemely quick of sight and their sense of smelling very accute it is almost impossible to approach them within gunshot... they will frequently discover and flee from you at the distance of three miles [4.8 kilometers]. I had this day an opportunity of witnessing the agility and the superior fleetness of this anamal which was to me really astonishing... I beheld the rapidity of their flight along the ridge before me it appeared reather the rappid flight of birds than the motion of quadrupeds."

Today we saw the most wonderful animals who live under the ground way too deep for us to dig to!

"Discovered a Village of Small animals that burrow in the grown (those animals are Called by the french Petite Chien) Killed one and Caught one a live by poreing a great quantity of Water in his hole we attempted to dig to the beds of one of those animals, after digging 6 feet [1.8 meters], found by running a pole down that we were not half way to his Lodge... The Village of those animals Covd. about 4 acres [1.6 hectares] of Ground on a gradual decent of a hill and Contains great numbers of holes on the top of which those little animals Set erect, make a Whistleing noise and whin allarmed Step into their hole. we por’d into one of those holes 5 barrels of Water without filling it. Those Animals are about the Size of a Small Squ[ir]rel... except the ears which is Shorter, his tail like a ground squirel which they shake & whistle when allarmd. the toe nails long, they have fine fur." We sent a live specimen to president Jefferson for him to look over I cant wait for the results.   -maddy

sorry i started so late and sorry i couldn't get some people. I could still read other peoples description for the people who's blog i couldn't get to but some peoples description did not have enough information in it though i did use other peoples descriptions for my own also sorry but some more descriptions are on the next page if i am not missing anyone than dont worry about my message but if i am on the bottom of the page it says older posts that is where there are more descriptions and i took a long time to figure that out that is why there are two of some of my description/post thingies sorry again for starting so late i was busy

will is so good with guns i hope he will feel comfortable carring a gun or two to protect our little group.  Because it would be very helpful to have some sort of protection from any sort of creature or really anything that wants to hurt us.
